Blessed with some of the most spectacular coastline in Scotland, this part of the west coast Highlands is one of my favourite places on the planet, which makes for a particularly memorable retreat location.
Steeped in history and character, our retreat venue is a private house nestled behind Glenuig village, and has been a ‘Highland retreat’ for over 300 years. Recently, the house has been extensively renovated and reimagined into a much loved ‘home from home’, and the family have generously and exclusively invited The Body Toolkit Retreats to host weeklong retreat programmes here throughout the year.
The house has an intimate feel, very much like staying at a friend’s house - it is humble and quirky in equal measure, with nine bedrooms across two floors. Guests will have the choice of ensuite or shared bathroom facilities, which have all been newly installed - many with 'bath only' facilities, inviting us to lean into the slower, ‘Highland’ pace of life. There is a shower in the main shared bathroom - and there's also a warm shower in the garden, for anyone brave enough to go for a dip in the sea! The number of guests for each retreat week is limited to a maximum of ten (even though the house could accommodate up to 20 guests).
Whether you’re meandering through the beautiful woodland, exploring the beach or watching the sunset from the hill, the pace of life will almost certainly slow down around you. A retreat with The Body Toolkit in the west coast Scottish Highlands is a wonderful holiday in this remote part of Scotland, and it's also a valuable and long-term investment in your health (for more information about the detox and retreat programme, please click here).
NB. Due to the west coast location, the paths and walking routes near the house are often on uneven, water-logged terrain, making waterproof hillwalking boots with good ankle support an essential part of the kit list. For those unable to walk on uneven surfaces, the alternative would be to enjoy self-directed walks on the nearby quiet roads.
