Top 5 Healthy Gifts for Your Christmas List

Most of us love and accept the fact that the festive period comes with quite a large serving of indulgence and more than a sprinkle of merriment.  But when it comes to gifts – for yourself or for others - there’s plenty of wonderful, health-conscious gifts to put on your list that will help you transition nicely into that New Year’s resolution.  Here’s a selection of 5 great, healthy gifts for the health-conscious family member or the friend who wants to make 2015 “the year”.

1.  Dr. Hauschka Melissa Day Cream, £25.00

Your skin is the largest organ in the body and will absorb absolutely everything you put on it, so choose wisely.  The Dr Hauschka range is more expensive than some cosmetics but the products are absolutely beautiful and made with medicinal plants and natural, organic ingredients. Dr. Hauschka Melissa Day Cream

2.  Mini Trampoline, from £50 - £149.00

Using a mini trampoline, also known as a rebounder, is one of the best ways to look and feel your best... and it’s heaps of fun.  Just 20 minutes every morning on a rebounder (before your breakfast, you’d only make that mistake once, believe me) will help you tone and firm your body in just six weeks.  Even just light bouncing can be really effective as it uses every muscle in the body and is an excellent way to boost circulation and endorphins.  The best rebounders on the market are German-made Trimilins and Bellicons, but a Reebok mini trampoline is perfect to get started.  Reebok Mini Trampoline

3.  Glass Water or Smoothie Bottle, from £10.90

Being healthy on the go requires you to have a bottle either for water, a juice or a smoothie, however, reusing a plastic bottle is something that should be avoided like the plague.  I’ve accumulated quite the collection of nice glass bottles for my juices and smoothies, but my favourite was actually a birthday present from my friend, Katherine, from Grip & Go.  It’s sturdy, resilient, easy to clean and looks good.  For more information on why to avoid plastic bottles, you might be interested in this article.  Grip & Go Glass Bottle

4.  Yoga Classes or a Yoga Membership, from £35.00

It wasn’t until I was in my late twenties that I really began to appreciate just how enjoyable yoga can be, but it’s actually quite incredible how quickly you can begin to see improvements in posture and muscle tone.  Not to mention the reason that really got me hooked: the stress that had followed me all the way to the class would have disappeared by the time the class was over.  And it’s not just for girls, yoga has seen an amazing surge in popularity among guys and long may it continue – no matter what size, sex or shape you are there will be a great class for you.  My advice would be to find a local class to make it easy for you to go, and you might want to go with a friend as well, turn it into a habit that will serve you for the rest of your life.

5.  Gift Vouchers for a “life changing” Retreat, from £50.00

If your New Year’s resolution is to make 2015 the year you get your health and fitness kickstarted to where you’ve wanted it to be for years and be the best version of you, then a Body Toolkit retreat will guide you there.  If you haven’t seen our website , have a look at what we do and here are some testimonials from our 2014 retreats:  "After 6 days of juicing, fresh air and superb company - I've lost a stone, but even better than that I feel myself again, I feel relaxed, I feel healthy, I feel amazing."  and  "The holistic approach and wealth of knowledge has made the week comfortable and empowering. I feel like I have a new life in front of me.  I am so glad I came."  You can also read Mhairi's review of the retreat in her blog post here .
